Community Dig Celebration Event – 25th March 2017

Part of the display of finds from the dig.

The Nettleham Heritage Association invited everyone to their celebration event for the Bishops Meadow Community Dig. It took place in the Nettleham Hub and library on Saturday 25th March 2017 and ran between 1.00pm and 4.00pm. There was a small display of the finds, during the event we had a video of the dig itself running continually. The many visitors showed great interest and knowledge asking many pertinent questions

Cola was busy showing us all how to make butter in the traditional way. I must admit it tasted great. Whilst Avril, assisted by Cola, demonstrated their weaving skills

Below we have close-ups of some of the files on display

Roman Coin
wire Hawser with Eyelet
Clay Pipe Stems
Bone Needle
Ferrous Spike
Horseshoe Fiddle Key Nail

Plus of course the mandatory tea and cake which goes along with everything archaeological.

Finally let us not forget none of this could have been done without the

Heritage Lottery Fund

thank you so much
